TYPE OF SERVICE

Types of treatments offered include customized therapeutic Swedish and deep tissue massage, Thai massage, manual and/or biomagnetic Cupping massage, Facial Rejuvenation Cupping massage, Hot Stone massage, and Somatic Polarity Therapy bodywork and energy balancing.

Massage is a form of bodywork that dates back more than 3000 years. It involves the manipulation of soft tissue through touch to promote a client's well-being and health. I may utilize a number of different techniques including effleurage (gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapping, compression, vibration, rocking, friction, and pressure to the muscular structure or soft tissues of the human body. This may also include non-forceful passive or active movement and/or application of techniques intended to affect the energetic systems of the body. The use of oils and lotions will be used to reduce friction on the skin.  The benefits of massage therapy include improved circulation, digestion, immunity, flexibility, breathing, posture, and general health; reduction of stress and anxiety; increased clarity; increased energy; and a greater sense of the mind-body connection.

Please note: Massage, bodywork and somatic therapies specifically exclude diagnosis, prescription, manipulation or adjustments of the human skeletal structure, or any other service, procedure or therapy which requires a license to practice orthopedics, physical therapy, podiatry, chiropractic, osteopathy, psychotherapy, acupuncture, or any other profession or branch of medicine.

Under certain medical conditions, massage & bodywork may not be advised, for example, when a fever is present, indicating an infection.  If a massage could be potentially harmful to the client or therapist, the massage therapist has the right to decline to do the treatment.

CANCELLATIONS & LATE ARRIVALS

Cancellations:

Amid the ongoing uncertainty of COVID-19, I have modified my cancellation policy to offer greater flexibility to my clients. I hope this will alleviate any stress and hesitation you have about an upcoming appointment. If you need to reschedule for whatever reason, and especially if you are not feeling well, I understand and request that you contact me as soon as possible to reschedule. To further support you, there will be no penalties for cancellations.

Late Arrivals:

In fairness to the next client, please arrive on time. Sessions begin and end at scheduled times.  Sessions begun late due to the client arriving late, end at the appointed time and are full price. If you are running just a few minutes late, we will continue with your appointment, but please understand that you will only receive massage for the time remaining in your appointment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

PLEASE ALSO READ THE NEW PROTOCOLS AND POLICIES in place during the COVID19 pandemic -- on a separate page.

Please plan on arriving 5 min early for us to discuss your goals for our session. If this is your first massage with me (or ever) please arrive about 15 minutes early so we can discuss your health, your goals, and I can show you what we will be doing for our session. My number one concern is for your safety, and to make you feel safe and comfortable during our session, so it is extremely important that I have thorough knowledge of your health history because some conditions are contraindications for massage. I especially need to know if you may be in your first trimester of pregnancy - I generally wait to work on pregnant clients until they have entered their 2nd trimester.

You may dress however you wish, but if you would like to receive a massage following a workout, please shower before your massage. I will show you into the massage studio, go over your health history and goals for the massage session, and then leave the room to allow you to undress and get onto the table. You should feel free to remove as much or as little of your clothing as you wish (with the exception of Thai massage during which you need to wear comfortable clothing). I will be more effective if you are fully undressed, including your underwear, but your comfort level is most important. I work with my clients fully draped, meaning that only the part of your body where I am working at that particular moment will be exposed.

Once you are undressed, on the table, and under the sheets and blanket, I will knock to make sure you are ready, come back into the room, and begin the session. I generally work with some sort of soft music playing, but I will gladly change the music or work in silence if you prefer. Due to Covid19, we will limit talking to the minimal necessary during the session to ensure your comfort and satisfaction with the treatment. I will check in with you about pressure, temperature, and general comfort, but please remember that only you can feel what is going on inside your own body, and that you should feel free to tell me at any point during the session if anything is at all uncomfortable.

I do my best work when I am quiet and focused, so you can expect me to remain fairly silent during sessions except to check in with you. When your session is over, I will again leave the room to allow you to get dressed.
